There are several people in this world that I look up to but one individual stands out to me the most. She is amazingly giving and I emulate her so much, I wish I could be more like her, who I’m talking about is Oprah!
Oprah was born on January 29, 1954 in a rural, poor Mississippi area to an unwed teenage mother. She was raped at the age of nine and at age fourteen she gave birth to her son that died at infancy. When Oprah was nineteen and fresh out of high school she landed her first job as a local news anchor. She eventually was transferred to a daytime talk arena. She eventually made her own name for herself and founded a company names HARPO. She is one of the most successful black women ever.
One reason why I look up to Oprah so much is I think she has an amazingly good look on life and she has such a big heart. I respect her so much for everything she does for other people. I love how she is so kind, yet she had such a tough childhood life and she doesn’t let that get her down. I think a lot of times when people come from a rough family or have a rough childhood they like to blame their problems on that and instead she just is optimistic and has such a great outlook on life.
Oprah has done so many things in her lifetime to help others. She has recently done the television show Oprah’s Big Give. In that show she has so many people and they have a challenge to help change someone’s life for the better, by giving them opportunities that they would have never had before. Oprah’s motto is “give to someone each day and your life will be more fulfilling”. I think that is kind of like “paying it forward”; for instance, if you do something for someone else than something good will get done to you. I think we should all live by that motto and people would be a lot happier.
There are several people in this world that I look up to, but Oprah is the one individual that stands out to me most. For me in my life I try to be like that every day. I realize I don’t have the money like Oprah to help all of these people, but I think even just random acts of kindness are helping out others as well. I always try to help out others when I can and I think it’s important that people strive to be like that. I think if everyone just got over themselves and actually would make the effort towards others and go out of their way to help them this world would be a better place!
