Dear Freshman

I to was once a new freshman and know exactly how you feel right now. I was very excited to further my education and a bit overwhelmed at the same time. Whether you are coming straight out of high school or have decided to go back to school after being away for awhile, you have made a good decision in choosing Salt Lake Community College to start your college education. I have found three ways that will hopefully help you make this transition much easier.
First, you should get yourself motivated and stay motivated. Find out what you wish to accomplish while you are here at SLCC. Set a long term goal and constantly remind yourself of this goal.
Second, get yourself organized. I would advice you to get yourself a planner. You will be able to keep track of up and coming tests and assignments.
Finally, I would suggest that you get to know your professors. Don’t be afraid to ask them for help. The professors here at SLCC are more than happy to sit down with you one on one. You more than likely won’t find that at a University.
I hope that this information will help you in getting started with your higher education. I wish you the best and good luck.

Michael Cox
